The Bear Project
In Memory of Tharon "bear" Sackett
The Bear Project stands as a poignant tribute to the memory of Tharon “Bear” Sackett, a courageous individual who, like numerous others, grappled with the harrowing effects of PTSD following years of military service, ultimately succumbing to his struggles in February 2024. In a heartfelt homage to his legacy, our mission is to extend a compassionate hand to those currently battling this silent adversary, providing unwavering support and fostering a path towards healing. Tharon Sackett, cherished by an extensive network of friends, family, and colleagues, leaves behind a legacy of love and camaraderie that we aspire to kindle in the hearts of fellow veterans. Through the Bear Project, we endeavor to ensure that the indelible mark of his positive influence endures, serving as a beacon of hope and remembrance for all who have shared in the challenges of military service.

What to Expect
Sound Healing is like adjusting the settings of your body. When something really stressful happens, our body’s alert system gets too active, and it doesn’t calm down afterward. The energy we used to handle the stress gets stuck in our body, usually in tense areas or where we hold our breath. The rest of our body then adjusts to this stuck energy, leading to discomfort. This imbalance can show up as physical or mental health issues. Sound Healing helps to release and balance this stuck energy, promoting overall well-being.
The Harmonic Egg realigns the autonomic nervous system to get it out of fight or flight mode. It relaxes the body and improve it’s ability to cope with stress and anxiety. All you have to do is lay in a reclined chair and breathe. The Harmonic Egg does the rest.
Why Are We Doing This
According to the 2022 report by the Department of Veterans Affairs, an average of nearly 17 veterans take their own lives every day. The suicide rates per 100,000 service members are 28.9 in the Army, 20.6 in the Navy, and 19.7 in the Air Force. Additionally, in 2022, 61 active duty Marines and six Marine reservists died by suicide.
Research shows that veterans, especially those who have served in combat, have experienced more trauma than non-veterans. A study found that 20% of veterans suffer from depression, while 11% experience suicidal thoughts or attempts.
Regarding PTSD, 23% of veterans using VA care have had it at some point in their lives, compared to 7% of veterans who do not use VA for health care. Up to 18% of combat veterans are affected by PTSD, and many seek care from clinicians outside the military healthcare system.
The duration of PTSD symptoms varies, with most people recovering within the first few weeks or months, but for some, the symptoms can persist for years if left untreated.
Common symptoms of PTSD include vivid flashbacks, intrusive thoughts or images, nightmares, intense distress triggered by reminders of the trauma, and physical sensations such as pain, sweating, nausea, or trembling. Someone with PTSD may exhibit behaviors such as reliving the traumatic event through nightmares and flashbacks, feeling isolated, being irritable and experiencing guilt, struggling with sleep-related issues like insomnia, and having difficulty concentrating.
THEY NEED HELP.
